Throw back a few pints with some old friends

The global dairy industry is well acquainted with Penn State's Ice Cream Short Course. First offered in 1892, the course's longevity is a testament to it providing a valuable learning experience for those wanting to increase their overall knowledge of ice cream. But there's another side to the history of the short course, and it's all about the people who have attended over the years. When you spend a better part of eight days with a relatively small group of people...in the class room, sharing meals, comparing notes, working side by side in the lab...professional relationships and lasting friendships are bound to develop.

Maybe it's just a once-a-year phone call, or a get-together at an industry event, but those friendships, both personal and professional, always seem to find a way of nurturing themselves beyond the short course, according to organizer David Michael.
