As part of its longstanding commitment to healthy lifestyles and
education, Cargill announced it is donating $77,500 to the American
Heart Association. The American Heart Association is a national
organization that works to educate the public on heart health and heart
disease prevention.
Cargill’s gift will be used to help fund “Go Red for Women”
educational seminars for the third consecutive year. The American Heart
Association’s “Go Red for Women” campaign aims to raise awareness that
heart disease is the number one killer of women, and strives to
motivate women to take charge of their heart health.
Elevated blood cholesterol is a major risk factor for heart disease.
Cargill manufacturers and markets a Naturally Sourced Cholesterol
Reducer called the CoroWise brand of plant sterols. Plant sterols have
been clinically shown to lower bad cholesterol, are backed by an FDA
heart health claim and are recommended by the National Cholesterol
Education Program (NCEP) of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood
Institute of the National Institutes of Health.
